We recently spoke with our colleague Jessica, who currently works as a Patient Advisor and Laser Technician in our clinic in Peterborough. Originally from South Africa, where she gained two degrees in psychology, she joined Optical Express when she moved to the UK as she was keen to work for a business that is committed to driving positive environmental change.
“I really wanted to work for Optical Express when I saw that they were really focused on the environmental impact and all of that. I appreciated that that was one of the key elements, as I think it’s very important to educate patients on this.”
Benefiting from the progression opportunities available to our colleagues, Jessica was able to train as a Laser Technician which allows her to be part of a patient’s surgery day. Having a distinct interest in the clinical side of optometry due to her degree in psychology and work as a Trauma Counsellor, she quickly realised that this was a career path she was eager to pursue with Optical Express.
“My favourite aspect is the fact that I’m joining the surgery team, and I’m really excited about being part of the journey on surgery day. I’ve always enjoyed the clinical aspect, so when they told me that this was an opportunity, I was gunning for it.
“I’m really happy that they have given me an opportunity to grow within the company.”
