How Optical Express Provides the Best Visual Outcomes by Mesha

‘Continuous improvement’ is a phrase we’ve all heard, but how many businesses do you know which actually deliver it?

I’m pleased to say since it was founded in 1991, Optical Express has done just that – continued to improve the lives of patients across the globe. From the start we made a strong commitment to improve the overall experience and visual results for our patients.

We’ve carried out many studies in order to deliver these improvements. We continue to do the best for our patients through our ability to enter pre and post-operative outcomes electronically. As we grow, we continue to learn, and because of that we’ve achieved consistently improved results.

A little-known fact about Optical Express is that we’ve turned away 300,000 patients who were seeking a life-enhancing refractive procedure. That’s because we won’t treat a patient who we believe is unsuitable for treatment – if we can’t be certain of a good outcome, we won’t go ahead.

Honesty’s important to us.

From the amazing work we’ve done treating patients who are suitable for surgery, we’ve been able to identify minor adjustments to our selection criteria for patients and to the nomograms used by our surgeons. That’s given us the opportunity to improve each of our patients’ visual outcomes, and to delight them with their results.

We’ve improved the patient experience due to other factors, too. We’re enthusiastic researchers of lasers, lenses and diagnostic equipment, and that’s led us to upgrade a substantial amount of our equipment in order to continue to be the best in the industry. Optical Express now uses the latest iFS150 femtosecond lasers, our Orbscan Topographers have been upgraded to Pentacams and we use amazing iDesign technology. It’s that dedication to having the best technology that allows us to give our patients the very best clinical experience and optimal results.

Look back to ten and twenty years ago, and what’s available now in terms of procedures, techniques and products is nothing short of phenomenal. It’ll be interesting to see how things develop in the future – I for one am looking forward to seeing just how the ever-evolving and innovative technology in our industry continues to progress, providing even better results for patients in the years to come.

Mesha joined Optical Express as a Specialist Refractive Optometrist in 2002, working in our central London laser centres. Like many of our Optometrists, Mesha worked closely and learned from some of our vastly experienced Ophthalmic Surgeons, thereafter progressing to become an Optometry Development Manager, and then on to her current role as Clinical Director. Mesha is responsible for the different aspects of Optometry performance in London and the South West.
