After 22 dedicated years as a Patient Advisor at our Newcastle Optical Express branch, Jean is now preparing for her well-earned retirement. Over the years, she has played a crucial role in supporting patients through their journey, ensuring they are well-informed, confident and fully prepared for their surgery.
Reflecting on her time with the team, Jean fondly recalls her interactions with patients: “It’s lovely to interact with patients and every patient has a tale to tell.” She takes great pride in being part of the team, especially when seeing the positive results: “Every patient that comes for one day post-op passes my door and they say to me ‘Jean, I can see.’”
As she steps into retirement, Jean has exciting plans, including a trip to Canada, volunteering at a cat and dog shelter, and enjoying the theatre. Still, she says, “I would do it all again in a heartbeat.”
