Clinical Diversity as an Optical Express Optometrist | Paul | Plymouth & Exeter

Optometrist Paul Cheshire’s job varies from day-to-day at Optical Express. Working between the Plymouth and Exeter clinics, Paul is provided plenty of clinical diversity in his role, “It’s variable, that’s the one thing that’s beautiful about Optical Express.”

An average day can begin with aftercares, then an afternoon of pre- and post-op consultations, both in person and telephone calls with patients. A highlight for him is interacting with patient’s post-surgery, “It’s brilliant to be able to change someone’s life for them forever and ever,” he shares.

A huge part of the senior refractive optometrist job role is to inform patients of the best solution available to them and guide them through the life-changing journey, understanding that every patient has different needs and identifying them, following out the steps that allow these needs to be met. Paul’s way of reassuring patients throughout the process by sharing success stories and amazing experience by past patients of Optical Express.

“Everyone has a different journey and it’s about making that tailor-made journey for them,” Paul says, recalling a recent case where a patient was so thrilled with her results, she arranged for her husband to fly in from overseas to undergo the same life-changing procedure.
