Life as an Ophthalmic Surgeon

Optical Express Opthalmic Surgeon Amir

A highly experienced ophthalmic surgeon who has carried out more than 13,000 refractive treatments during his career, Dr Amir Mani relishes his role at the UK’s leading refractive surgery provider. “The refractive surgery field is always developing. Using advanced technology to transform patients’ vision in a matter of minutes is a remarkable and rewarding experience,” he says.

Dr Mani has practised ophthalmology in several countries, so why did he choose to work for Optical Express in the UK? He explains, “As a surgeon, I have access to state of the art technology, from i-Design wavefront guided technology to Femtosecond lasers, which is standard in every clinic. Modern equipment like this means that I can deliver the very best outcomes for my patients, which important to me.”

He continues, “I also have access to the Optical Express International Medical Advisory Board, where many international experts in ophthalmology share knowledge and experience. It’s unique and the help and support given to me is invaluable in my role.”

It’s important to Dr Mani that he’s part of a versatile and caring team. “I work across a number of Optical Express clinics. From Glasgow to Southampton, every team delivers high-quality patient care. We all understand how special transforming our patients’ lives is.”

Refractive surgery is always progressing, and it’s that constant evolution that excites Dr Mani. “Advancements in nanotechnology and artificial intelligence (AI) will soon capture many aspects of medicine, but I believe it will particularly change ophthalmology. It may not be too long before AI allows us to interact with our environment much faster and more effectively than now. And new ways of accommodating intraocular lenses, and more advanced implants, are showing very promising results.”

Dr Mani is delighted to work at Optical Express. “For any ophthalmic surgeon who wants to pursue their interest in refractive surgery and make a huge difference to patients’ lives, there‚Äôs no other choice,” he states. “Everyone I have worked with has been professional, knowledgeable and friendly, from optometrists to the surgery teams and from the front of house staff to our head office support teams.
